TLP Live Draw

I'm finally getting around to posting pics from the live draw I participated in at The London Police opening reception hosted by the BLDG. Chaz from The London Police, Julie Hill and myself drew a little something on one of the BLDG's gallery walls for about 20 minutes. I decided to go with a bear smoking a pipe and wearing a bow tie. After the 20 minutes was up, everyone attending was invited to come up and draw something also. A week later my little boy even got to take part in drawing on the wall as well as all over himself. The whole night turned out to be great and I had a blast doing it. You can check out the pics below to see how much fun was being had.

The London Police

Our friends over at the BLDG will be hosting the opening reception of British art collective The London Police tonight from 8pm-11pm. Along with showcasing new original works of Kentucky and Cincinnati themed paintings, The London Police will also be hosting a live draw tonight which I, along with others, will be participating in. And as far as I understand, is open to anyone who wants to take part. So if you're looking for something to do tonight, swing by the BLDG and check out some really outstanding artwork from these Amsterdam based artists.

SXSW 2010

With South by Southwest festivities in full swing right now, I thought I'd throw up a few pics of this years poster I had the opportunity to work on along side of Keith Neltner. This is the second year we've created a poster for SXSW and working on it again this year was just as fun if not more. Printed by the BLDG, our poster is a 19x25, 5 color screenprint and is on sale this week at the fest. Trying to make his way to Austin, this poor 'lil guy is having a bit of car trouble and is looking for a ride.

Rise Up Haiti

I was honored to participate alongside a bunch of other talented artists in creating an original piece of artwork for last nights Rise Up Haiti event at The Carnegie here in Covington. Each piece had one of Jonathan Willis's photos of a Haitian child screenprinted on the work. The benefit raised money for the Restavek Foundation which is helping the children of Haiti. The artwork was auctioned off and with all the money going to the foundation. Thanks to everyone who put the event together and to everyone who came out and made last night a huge success.

Two New Prints

Ink Bleeds II was a great success this past Friday night. A ton of great work hanging on the walls by a lot of talented artists. Thanks to everyone who came out, grabbed a print and said hi. And a special thanks to the Art Academy and the slew of help from everyone who kindly volunteered their time to pull this thing off. Definitely was great fun.

I debuted two new art prints on Friday. First up is Bats, Bats, Bats. I had posted process pics of these guys randomly over the last couple of weeks. These guys are ready to attack your walls day or night with their glow-in-the-dark ink. These were screenprinted by the fine folks at the BLDG. Printed on Steel Blue French Paper, these are signed and numbered edition of 55.

The Bird Watcher is another new print fresh of the press that takes you on a tight time flight across the moonlit sky. Also printed by the BLDG, these are 19x25, 3 colors printed on Nightshift Blue French Paper. As always signed and numbered edition of 50.

Both on sale now in the store.

The Art Academy of Cincinnati will be hosting Ink Bleeds II Friday, November 20, from 5pm to 9pm. A whole slew of talented artists will be showcasing their work and selling prints. Artists include: Jay Ryan, Spike Press, Powerhouse, Angryblue, Cricket Press, Galaxy Reno, Tommy Sheehan, Human Tree, Neltner Creative as well as myself. Swing by and maybe grab an early holiday gift. Should be a great night.

The Legend of the Cows

Cows getting struck by lightning, coming back from the dead and out for brains...it doesn't get much better than that. No sir. Just wrapped up this illustration for Neltner's Farm Fall Festival. The poster, designed by Keith Neltner, was used to promote their haunted corn maze. And just like all great halloween legends, this one is based on a true story.

New Panda Print

Well these have been a long time in the making. I had this idea, which feels like decades ago, to do a print that was half screenprinted and the other half hand painted making each print unique. 21 prints and 4 months later they are finally finished. Since I always enjoy reading about the creative process of others, I decided to document my entire process starting with a simple sketch. The fine peeps at the BLDG were kind enough to help a fellow out with the screenprinting. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pics. On sale now!

Here I had printed out my panda sketch to full size to use as a guide as I painted on the film that would be used to shoot the screen and lay down the white.

Here are a few pics of a painting I created last fall for my son Henry to hang in his room. He seems to really like it and refers to it by making a buzz sound. Its certainly cuter when he does it rather than me trying to describe it.

Calexico Sasquatch! Festival Poster

Just recently finished up this collaboration with Keith Neltner for Calexico's show at this years Sasquatch! Festival. These are a 3 color screenprint with an edition of only 30 and will be available after the show. I plan on taking a few pics and posting here shortly.

SXSW

Well it has certainly been quite a while since Halloween. Too long. It's been a busy start at to the year with a lot of projects in the works and hopefully a long overdue redesign of the site. One of the first projects I had the opportunity to work on is this poster for SXSW I created along with Keith Neltner as part of the The Small Print Studios. These are a six color screenprint edition of 150 available at SXSW only. I have a few sketches I plan on posting here shortly to show our process...hopefully I'll get around to it before Halloween.

Henry and I did a little pumpkin carving this week with a little help from mom as we prepare for his first Halloween tomorrow. He's gonna be a golfer. I think he was more interested in putting the pumpkins in his mouth than the pumpkins themselves.

Here is a painting I recently created as part of a larger project I worked on with the creative team at Intrinzic. This was used as an rfp and the eye was a place holder for a dvd of our work at Intrinzic. Thanks to Mr. Neltner for the photos. Pretty fun project!

Friends of Gentry Benefit Show

I teamed up with Keith Neltner to create this poster for the Friends of Gentry Aubrey Benefit show tomorrow night at the Southgate House. These will be for sale at the show with all the money going to the FOGA scholarship fund. A special thanks to Mike Amann for printing these and allowing me to pull a few myself. We did three on wood as well. I'll post those pics soon.

Day Trip to the Zoo

We took ole Henry on a little trip to the zoo a week or so ago. I think he was more interested in the leaves on the trees than the animals, but we had a great time. I always forget how nice the Cincinnati Zoo is. This year they've brought back the giraffes and you supposedly are able to feed them, although that wasn't the case for us. Oh well, maybe next time.
