What I've Been Up To Lately

Thursday, September 28, 2006

So I finally finished tiling the backsplash in our kitchen and probably not soon enough if you ask my wife. Anyways I've posted a few before and after shots. Corrie and I picked out one inch by one inch glass tile. Although this was not my first time tiling, it was my first time working with glass tile. I soon came to the realization that laying glass tile is a little bit more of a pain than regular ceramic tile. Normally small tile like this is held together by a mesh, but since its glass the mesh would show through. Instead the tile was held together by paper as you can see in pics 3 and 4. This made things a little more difficult to see what you were doing. The tiles also seemed to enjoy popping out when I pulled the paper covering off and while I was grouting, which made things that much more fun. By the time I finished I really liked the way everything turned out, which made all the nose bleeds worth it.

Well glad to see I am not the only artist design, magazine, painter dipshit that find himself doing tile work all over the house... Drop a line!
